Links & FAQ’s
Here are some of the questions we get asked most often:
1. What camera do you use for your photos of your ducks (horse, dog, cow, food etc.?)
A. All the photos here on the blog were taken with a gamut of cameras and equipment. Most commonly used are a Canon Rebel XTi with a Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM lens. I also photograph most everything in natural light, but sometimes the situation requires a supplemental flash so I will use a Canon 430 or a 550 Speedlight with a diffuser. I prefer the smaller camera because the weight and size of the huge cameras was just too much for my hands. I also use a Holga, a Elan 700ne, a Fuji E900 p&s and a old Fuji s7000 from time to time.
Black and white film is perhaps my greatest guilty obsession and I wish I had a place for a dark room but the horses have taken over the barn…So I send my film to a quality house like Black and White Labs and they process and scan my negatives. I then send them to a master printmaker like Johnathon Penney who brings them to life on gorgeous archival artists papers.
2. I have a restaurant, can you come and take photos of my food?
A. Sure, just give me a call and let me know what you are looking for.
3. Todd is mentioned but he never writes anything, why?
A. Because he is busy doing all the work while I have all the fun
4. Can I buy one of your ducks?
A. Our ducklings will be available again in spring of 2009
5. Where do you buy your ducklings?
A. Our ducklings are hatched here, by their Momma…the way it should be.
6. Where can I get your products like your soap, cards and gifts?
A. Just shoot over an email and let us know what you are looking for, we’ll gather up everything and give you a call with availability. You’re welcome to come out and pick it up here at the farm when it’s ready. We are hoping to have a small spot set up here before the holidays that will be open for popping in.
7. Do you barter or trade?
A. It depends on what you have in mind. I happily barter photography sessions, web design, graphic design, catering and gifts. You’ll have to ask Todd if there is anything you want to barter with him. Check the For Sale/Wanted page too. Here are some things we are always looking for:
- Locust posts
- Good fencing, such as horse fencing
- Greenhouse materials
- Lumber
- a good running, old Suburban
- Good quality bedding hay and horse hay
- Horse tack and equipment
We are also always open to barter with other producers!
